What is Nitrous Oxide?

  • Happy Air
  • Laughing Gas
  • Medicated Air

Fear of pain is the #1 reason people avoid coming to the dentist! Nitrous Oxide helps patients overcome this fear. Relaxation and a feeling of well-being results from breathing a mixture of oxygen, air, and a mild anesthetic gas (nitrous oxide) through a nose mask.

Please remember: Nitrous Oxide in NO way resembles General Anesthesia. The patient remains alert and able to follow the doctor's instructions.

What can "Happy Air" do for your child?

  • It eliminates fear, nervousness, and tension associated with dental procedures.
  • It allows a patient to breathe more oxygen than he/she can from air while enjoying a remarkable depth of relaxation
  • It drastically minimizes feelings of discomfort
  • It usually produces feelings of warmth and security as well as a pleasant, "floaty" feeling.
  • It permits needed injections of local anesthetic without discomfort.
  • It allows our patient to leave the office rested and alert with no side effects.
